Selection Guide ... (full product listing at bottom of this page ...)
The entire juicedLink product family incorporates low-noise preamplifiers which enable you to get better signal-to-noise performance from your camcorders and reduce camcorder "hiss".
If you are in the market for new camera, then please make sure you check out our tutorial on Camcorder / DSLR Selection for Quality Audio.
XLR Mics with DSLR Cameras: The DT454 low-noise preamplifier has been designed as a complete DSLR audio solution, with two XLR inputs, stereo mini jack input, headphone monitoring, metering, phantom power, and AGC Disable for cameras which do not have manual control. It has been optimized for the DSLR form factor, and it's features complement the elements missing from many DSLR cameras. The DT414 is the same as the DT454, but it does not have Phantom Power or AGC Disable.
Run-n-Gun Mics with DSLR Cameras: Although we always recommend using quality balanced XLR microphones, if you are strictly shooting run and gun style and will only be using the type of microphone that will mount directly to your camera, then you want to look at the DS214.
Camcorders: The CX431, CX231, and CX211 were designed for the camcorder form factor. Selection of which one depends on what features you want (how many XLR inputs, phantom power or not). There are many camcorders on the market which already have headphone amplifiers and manual control, so these are low-noise preamplifiers without additional features such as headphones, metering, AGC Disable.
Zoom H4n and Dual-System Audio: Use the DS214 with your H4n to create a dual system audio setup, where the DS214 will interface to your camera and add meters, headphones, and AGC Disable (if necessary).
Zoom H4n 4-Channel Recording: Use the CX231 or CX211 with the stereo mini jack interface on the H4n so you will have a balanced XLR input for each of the four recording tracks available on the H4n.
